Seminary Entrance Bursaries

Please be sure to have your application sent in before the deadline of the scholarships and bursaries. Some scholarships require a reference letter(s) from your pastor, teacher, professor, or community leader. If you are to include a reference letter, please include the following:

  1. How long your Referee has known you and in what capacity.
  2. A description of your character.
  3. Why your Referee thinks that you are qualified for the scholarship or bursary that you have applied for.

Please have your referee sent their letter in to info@prov.ca either by mail or through email.

Alumni Bursary

Providence is accepting submissions for Alumni Bursary - there is no deadline.

Alumni Bursary, $500 (4 available)

APPLICATION DEADLINE: April 1 or until 4 valid applications are received. This one time bursary is available to new students entering Providence University College or Providence Theological Seminary. The bursary application MUST be completed by an alumnus/alumna on behalf of the prospective student. An additional $250 is available should the student choose to live in residence. These are shared between Providence University College and Providence Theological Seminary.

In order to receive the above bursary, students must meet the following criteria/requirements:

  • Bursary application must be completed by Alumni on student's behalf.
  • The BA applicant must be enrolled in no less than 24 credit hours over the fall and winter semesters for Providence University College.
  • The MA applicant must be enrolled in no less than 18 credit hours over the fall, winter, and summer semesters for the Theological Seminary.
  • Applicant must meet criteria for enrollment.

When the above criteria/requirements are met, the recipient will receive $500 awarded in the second semester of their program.

This application will be considered only after a formal application to Providence University College or Providence Theological Seminary has been received.




Latin American Indigenous Student Bursary

Providence is not currently accepting submissions for Latin American Indigenous Student Bursary because the deadline (Friday, June 23, 2017) has passed.

This bursary is available to support Latin American Indigenous students (who are active members of a Latin American Indigenous community) that demonstrate financial need and are committed to using their education to support their Indigenous people group following graduation. Applicants must write a 500-word essay demonstrating financial need and giving a brief summary of their Indigenous heritage. In order to qualify to receive the above bursary, students must meet all of the following criteria/requirements:

  • Applicants must demonstrate financial need (i.e. would not be able to pursue Canadian post-secondary education without financial assistance) by completing our “Demonstration of Financial Need” form;
  • Applicants are required to provide at least two letters of recommendation by Indigenous community leaders;
  • Applicants must demonstrate leadership and experience in community service;
  • Applicants must be active members of a Latin American Indigenous Community (Comunidad Indigena);
  • Applicants must be enrolled as a full time student in either the EAL, EAP, UC or Seminary (24 credit hours over 2 semesters for UC students and 18 credit hours over 2 semesters for seminary students);
  • Applicants must meet the minimum APGA requirement of 2.0
  • When Providence has determined the student(s) having met the above criteria/requirements, the student(s) are deemed to qualify for this bursary. The bursary is awarded equally between 2 semesters (fall and winter). Each year, the bursary will be equally distributed between the applicants who fully meet the requirements of this bursary. The value of the bursary awarded each year may change therefore depending on the number of qualifying applicants.

Master of Arts in Counselling Bursary Alberta

Providence is not currently accepting submissions for Master of Arts in Counselling Bursary Alberta because the deadline (Friday, June 23, 2017) has passed.

Master of Arts in Counselling Bursary Alberta, $500 (2 available)

This one time entrance bursary is available to new students entering a Master of Arts in Counselling program (Alberta extension only).

In order to receive the above bursary, students must meet the following criteria/requirements:

  • Applicant must be enrolled in no less than 18 credit hours over the fall, winter, spring and summer semesters.
  • Applicant must meet criteria for enrollment.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in the two year Master of Arts in Counselling degree program at Providence.

When the above criteria/requirements are met, the recipient will receive this one time bursary of $500 awarded in the fall semester upon completion of the 18 credit hours. An additional $250 is available should the student choose to live in residence.

This application will be considered only after a formal application to Providence Theological Seminary has been received.

Minnesota/North Dakota Pastor's Bursary

Providence is accepting submissions for Minnesota/North Dakota Pastor's Bursary - there is no deadline.

The Minnesota/North Dakota Pastor's Bursary, (up to two courses)

This bursary is available to current and future students from Minnesota or North Dakota who are currently employed as pastors or acting as laymen in the Church. The applicant must meet all bursary requirements. Applicants do not need to be studying full time but must be enrolled in a Seminary degree program.

In order to receive the above bursary, students must meet the following criteria/requirements:

  • Applicant must be a Minnesota or North Dakota resident.
  • Applicant must meet criteria for enrollment.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in a Seminary degree program.

When the above criteria/requirements are met, the recipient will receive a maximum of $2000, awarded in the relevant semester of study.

This application will be considered only after a formal application to Providence Theological Seminary has been received.




Missionary on Furlough Bursary

Providence is not currently accepting submissions for Missionary on Furlough Bursary because the deadline (Friday, June 23, 2017) has passed.



The Peter and Esther Dyck Family Bursary

Providence is not currently accepting submissions for The Peter and Esther Dyck Family Bursary because the deadline (Friday, June 23, 2017) has passed.

The Peter and Esther Dyck Family Bursary, $1000 (Up to 5 available)

This one-time bursary is available annually to students attending Albright Church in Winnipeg as regular attendees or participants in the youth program. Applicants must submit a 400 word essay on how studying at Providence will make a difference in their life.

In order to receive the above bursary, students must meet the following criteria/requirements:

  • Applicants must submit a 400 word essay on how studying at Providence will make a difference in their life.
  • Applicants must submit a letter of reference from a member of the Albright Church Pastoral staff.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in no less than 18 credit hours over the fall, winter, and summer semesters.
  • Applicant must meet criteria for enrollment.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in a Seminary degree program.

When the above criteria/requirements are met, the recipient will receive $1000, awarded in the second semester of that year.
