Coming to Winnipeg Bible College in the Fall of 1979 to study in the Integrative Vocational program was a life-changing experience for Sue Becker. She received the education she came for, but she also found a husband and eventually a career.

Sue met Steve Screpnek during her two years at Prov, and they were married in the Spring of 1983. By the time Steve accepted the position of Accountant for Providence in 1990, they had four boys to look after – Josh, Jordan, Connor, and Caleb – and Sue was a busy homemaker.

Over the next nine years, Sue’s main connection with the school was part-time work in the bookstore. In 1999, however, with a major Alumni Homecoming in the plans, Sue was asked to come on staff as Alumni Coordinator. She has been doing that job ever since.

“My focus is on connecting with alumni and allowing them to connect with each other,” Sue says. To do that, she spends her work hours arranging receptions and reunions for alumni and creating opportunities for alumni to come onto campus and speak in chapel or just visit. Sue occupies a lovely office on the main floor, south wing, that includes a reception room. “We are encouraged when our alumni come back to visit,” Sue says. “We want to use this room to connect with our alumni and help them connect with each other. We want to reminisce with them, encourage them, and give them a place that they feel comfortable to come to. Make plans to come back and visit Providence, I would love to meet you or re-connect with you.”
