Do you remember when you were at Providence and a research paper was announced and was due the following week? One of the first things you did was head to the library. What a disappointment when you got there and found that their stock of books on that topic were limited, non existent or had already been checked out. What NOW?

You can make a difference to that happening to someone else. “Buy a Book” is the project we would like to have our Alumni support this year. It costs an average of $40.00 for Terry Kennedy (Head Librarian) to purchase a book. In order to show her appreciation, Terry has consented to place your name in each book you sponsor expressing to the reader that this book had been made available because of you. The best thing about this project is that you can pick the subject area (sorry, not the book title).

The library buys books in all the subject areas taught in the University College and Theological Seminary. Here are just a few subjects:

  • History – Canadian and world
  • Anthropology
  • Sociology
  • Communications and media
  • Theology – historical, practical and systematic
  • TESOL
  • Psychology
  • Counselling
  • Philosophy
  • Drama
  • The Arts

Our library also subscribes to databases giving access to thousands of online academic journal articles. You can also request your donation to go in that direction but unfortunately we can’t acknowledge your donation on the file.

It is easy to get involved in our “Buy a Book” Campaign. Donate online today or send in a cheque marked “Buy a Book” and your topic of choice. It’s that easy!

Faculty Engagements

We would like to keep you connected to Providence and our faculty.  One way of achieving this is to let you know when Providence faculty are in your community.
