We're convinced the Lord wants Providence to thrive. We also recognize our responsiblity and are excited about our plans to invest in our people, our programs and our places; to inspire a new generation of alumni, parents and friends to join those of the past in empowering Providence to prepare people to make an impact in the church and the world into its next century.
The vision of Providence is to be identified among Canada's foremost Christian universities as a learning community that transforms students into leaders of character, knowledge and faith, to serve Christ in a changing world. We are encouraged that you share this vision with us.
The Providence experience is transformative. Our students have told us as much, and they continue to reinforce our belief that mentored learning in a nurturing community is one of the things that sets us apart. The Providence Fund will ensure we are able to continue doing what we do best — transforming students into difference-makers in their churches, neighbourhoods and workplaces in Manitoba, throughout Canada and around the world.
Our students are already benefitting from this investment. The Buller School of Business, which was officially launched in September 2016, is offering a Bachelor of Business Administration in a state-of-the-art facility. Meanwhile, the new laboratory is already a hive of curiosity for students pursuing studies in Science. These Program Enhancements will grow our enrollment and ensure prospective students interested in Business and Science can receive the benefits of a Providence education.
Campus Development will contribute to a more enjoyable, innovative and accessible experience for our students, faculty and staff. We have already freshly paved our driveway, completed an encolsed, landscaped courtyard and created a Welcome Centre that houses all student services. Going forward we'll remove mobility barriers, remodel chapels, classrooms and residences and enhance our technological capabilities.
We think a Providence education should be available to all qualified applicants who want it. We also recognize the financial cost associated with Christian higher education and are committed to providing aid through scholarships and bursaries. The Providence Legacy Fund — our endowment — will help make a Providence education more accesible while securing the future of the institution with predicatble, annual support.
Providence faculty are high achievers in their fields. Whether through authorship, artistic performance, green initiatives or scientific research they are already making a difference, not only in students' lives but also in the broader, academic community. Our staff are difference-makers and mentors as well. By prioritizing Faculty and Staff Development we will be able to attract and retain high-quality employees who will help provide a holisitic education recognized as among the best that Canadian, Christian universities have to offer.
