Transportation to Providence
As a new student to Providence, you will be picked up at the airport by the International Student Services Coordinator, or by one of three student leaders known as International Assistants. They will meet you at the baggage claim area of Winnipeg's James Armstrong Richardson International Airport. Please email the International Student Services Coordinator your flight information as soon as you have booked your tickets to Winnipeg.
In some cases because of scheduling conflicts, another Providence representative may pick you up. Please note that there is no bus or train service to the Providence campus.
Additional Driving Instructions once in Manitoba
As an international student, you will need one or more of the following items to drive in Canada:
USA students: As an American student in Manitoba, if you hold a valid driver’s license from the USA you can simply use your American license while studying in Canada. This is because Manitoba recognizes American driver licenses and license plates as long as you are a student. Remember to always have your student ID card with you when you are driving as proof of your student status.
If you desire to acquire a Manitoba Driver’s License, American students are able to do this will no wait times. Manitoba extends reciprocity to your regular passenger vehicle driver licenses issued by all American states which means that you will not have to undergo a written test or a road test if you want to acquire a Manitoba driver’s license.
