Student Loans

The U.S. Department of Education has approved Providence College for purposes of the Federal Family Education Program, formerly known as the U.S. Guaranteed Student Loan Program.

Taxes

U.S. students should be aware that the IRS requires that American citizens and resident aliens report their worldwide income. This means that any wages received for work done in Canada (you are only allowed to work on-campus) will need to be reported on your U.S. tax return even while you are living in Canada. Tax treaties between the U.S. and Canada prevent "double taxation," but you will be required to report your income to both countries. Depending on how long they have been in Canada, many international students find it beneficial to file Canadian taxes because of tax incentives for students.
