Jesus told a number of parables about stewardship for the kingdom of God. Christians have taken this stewardship seriously over the years, both spiritually and materially. The societies in which they have dominated came to be fairly prosperous and people benefited materially from this prosperity. As Euro-Canadians follow the secularization of their European forebears, they have often lost a sense of stewardship, namely, that God has appointed us to care for what has been given to us in terms of time, talent, and treasure.
Part of the purpose of the Providence Legacy Fund is to encourage Christians to become good stewards of what God has given them. The focus of the Legacy Fund is, of course, on being good stewards of the material gifts given to us by God. But often, when one concentrates on wise stewardship in one area, they begin to think of the stewardship of the other areas of their life as well. I encourage you to think of yourself as a good steward of all that God has given you, your wealth, your time, your talents, your family, your work, and your leisure. Then, someday you will be able to enter into the joy of your Master and hear the wonderful words, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
As in biblical times, leaving a legacy is an important aspect of stewardship today. I encourage you to look over the Providence Legacy Fund pages on our website. Then, give us a call or send us an email so we can put you in touch with those who can help you become a good steward of what God has given you.
