Providence University College Public Lecture Series
This series of seven free public lectures are designed to offer a free educational experience for the general public by Providence University College faculty.
The fourth lecture in the series, titled "The Process of Postmodern Communication” will be given by Nicholas Greco, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Communications and Media.
Many consider communication to be a straightforward process in which a message is sent by one party and received by another. In fact, it is a more complex process, and more so if one considers the postmodern context in which contemporary communication occurs. This lecture will explain how communication works, both in terms of interpersonal communication and how one engages with media and its messages. The implications of postmodernism for the processes of communication will also be explored.
About Nicholas Greco:
Nicholas Greco received the Ph.D. from McGill University, and is a founding Fellow of the Canadian Institute for the Study of Pop Culture & Religion. His recent book explores the enigmatic star image and the nature of fan desire in the case of British singer Morrissey.
