Providence University College Public Lecture Series
Saturday March 02, 2013
Time: 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

This series of seven free public lectures are designed to offer a free educational experience for the general public by Providence University College faculty.

The fifth lecture in the series, titled "The Birth of the New Testament: Exploring a Conspiracy Theory" will be given by David Johnson, Ph.D., Professor of New Testament.

Lecture Description:

Is the New Testament the result of random events in the life of the early church? Or were there political and/or religious forces that brought together the twenty-seven books now in the canon? The lecture will explore various theories, some of which have shown up in popular culture like the Da Vinci Code and Piers Morgan.

About David Johnson:

David Johnson received the Ph.D. from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and moved to southern Manitoba with his family in 1990 to teach at Providence. He is a full professor of New Testament, Provost, and Interim President.
