Public Lecture - How Families Influence Adolescents
“How Families Influence Adolescents”
Part of the Providence University College Public Lecture Series 2014, a community service for the general public. Admission is free – no registration is required.
In our society, teens have may different voices trying to gain power of influence over them. These voices come from places such as popular music, professional sports, peer groups, and political ideologies. Often these voices can be overwhelmingly powerful. However, one voice that is often overlooked is the voice of the family. Research shows us that of all the voices that can influence a child or teen, the voice of the family is actually the most influential one. We will explore why this is true, and how this voice can be the most powerful positive influence for children and teens.
