2009-10-18
Providence scores 2 in win over CMU after 5 consecutive scoreless gamesLady Freemen coach Emily Janke kept reiterating to her young squad that if they stuck to the system the goals would eventually come. After five games of scoreless play the team finally started to gel on the offensive side of the pitch and reaped the rewards of dedication and hard work by earning a 2-1 win over the Central Mennonite University Blazers on Saturday afternoon. Coach Janke was excited to see her team use the home pitch to find their scoring touch. She was also able to leave the pitch confident that this re-found scoring touch will stick with the team throughout the rest of the season. “The girls, myself included, all left the field so happy with the game,” Coach Janke said. “First off it was so great to get a win, the ladies really deserved it. Secondly, it was encouraging to see us finish some of the chances we created. We have really been struggling with finishing lately so I think it was great for the girls to see that they have that ability to score.” ![]() |
