Lady Freemen Drop Two
2009-11-13

11/13 – The Lady Freemen came into Friday’s action knowing that one win in two games would earn them a spot in the semi-finals. However, the ladies left the day unable to pull together a win and ended their tournament run one day short.

Providence played their first game of the day against #2 Clearwater Christian College. The Freemen started the match out strong, but eventually fell to a stronger team in three straight sets 25-14, 25-13, and 25-10.

The Lady Freemen then played #6 Grace University knowing that they needed a win to make it to the semi-finals. However, the Lady Freemen were unable to play their best volleyball and they lost three straight sets 25-18, 25-21, 25-17.

“They were two really disappointing losses,” Lady Freemen head coach Becky Heidebrecht said. “It was unfortunate that we weren’t able to play to our full potential when we really needed to, and I wish we could have continued our strong play from yesterday into today’s match-ups.”

“We have had a really great season, and I am happy that we were able to pull together and make it to nationals in the first place. We have a young squad that will come back even stronger, and we hope to set our sights on earning an even better result at next year’s national tournament.”
