Campus welcomes feathered (and slithering) friends

Providence was treated to an exciting and educational afternoon with a visit from the Wildlife Haven Rehabilitation Centre on Tuesday, February 2.

The centre, based out of Ile des Chenes, introduced students, staff, and faculty to a great horned owl, a Swainson’s hawk, and a Western Hognose snake.

Attendees learned the stories and characteristics of each animal, as well as how the centre works to rehabilitate and care for injured animals in both the short and long term.

Wildlife Haven was invited by Dr. Michael Gilmour, Professor of New Testament and English Literature and Fellow of the Oxford Centre for Animal Ethics. Dr. Gilmour’s class, Animals in the Bible, has been running this semester.
