CMU overpowers Providence en route to 84-32

The Lady Freemen basketball squad hoped to earn their second MCAC victory of the season Wednesday night when they hosted the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers. Unfortunately for them the Blazers had other plans, as they rolled to a 84-32 victory over Providence.

Missed shots and poor turnovers once again hurt the Lady Freemen early on, as they allowed the Blazers to jump out to an early 32-8 lead. The Blazers then continued to roll as guard Anneke Hildebrand showed off her game, pouring in 18 of her 26 points in the first half as she led her squad to a 44-15 lead at the half.

The second half then continued to be much of the same. The Lady Freemen continued to miss their targets, while the Blazers seemed unable to miss. Providence guard Sonia Radi scored 11 while captain Jill Reimer added 8, but the game was never in doubt as the Blazers cruised to a 84-32 drubbing.

Notes: Freshman Sonia Radi exited late in the second half with what appeared to be a shoulder injury…the Lady Freemen travel to Winnipeg Friday night in a re-match against CMU.
