Blazers defeat Freemen 94-71The Freemen travelled to CMU Friday night hoping to avenge their Wednesday night home court loss. But the Blazers jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as they took a second straight win over the Freemen with a 94-71 score. Providence came out of the gates slow Friday night and the Blazers took full advantage to jump out to an early lead. The Freemen then continued their first half struggles as they gave up untimely turnovers and CMU continued to build their lead into the half. The Freemen then came out with more jump in the second half and started to make it a more competitive match. The two sides stayed hand in hand in the half, freshman Chris Funk had 25 points with 12 rebounds and senior Cam Friesen stepped up his play with 12 points and 5 rebounds, and the back-and-forth match-up originally anticipated between the two sides started to emerge. However, the Freemen once again found themselves in a hole too big to dig themselves out of and a strong Blazers squad took the game 94-71. Notes: The Freemen next return to action this weekend when they play a home-and-home series with the Red River Rebels.Article written by Kaiten Critchlow ![]() |
