Providence “Dylan expert” interviewed by Bloomberg Businessweek
Earlier this month, in the days after Bob Dylan won the 2016 Nobel Prize in Literature, Dr. Michael Gilmour fielded questions about the American musician from Bloomberg Businessweek.
The resulting article, entitled “What Ever Happened to Bob Dylan’s Born-Again Music Fans,” deals with Dylan’s “Christian period” of the late 1970s, in which he released gospel albums “Slow Train Coming” and “Saved.”
The article can be read in its entirety HERE.
Dr. Gilmour, Professor of New Testament and English Literature at Providence, has dealt with Dylan’s biblical tie-ins in two books, Tangled Up in the Bible: Bob Dylan and Scripture and The Gospel According to Bob Dylan: The Old, Old Story for Modern Times, as well as in numerous articles published by the likes of The Oxford Encyclopedia of the Bible and the Arts and The Oxford Handbook of Reception History of the Bible.
A Fellow of the Oxford Centre for Animal Ethics, Dr. Gilmour has also written extensively about animal rights and creature care and is currently working on a new book: Animals in the Writings of C.S. Lewis.
Bloomberg Businessweek, founded in 1929, has a global circulation of nearly one million.
