Four Freemen Named to All-Conference Teams

Reimer, Radi, Coursey and Funk earn MCAC All-Conference Basketball Selections

Four members of the Providence Athletics program were named to their respective Manitoba Colleges Athletics Conference All-Conference teams.

Lady Freemen senior Jill Reimer earned honors after compiling season averages of 7.8 points per game, 2.2 assists p/g, 7.1 rebounds p/g and 2.0 blocks p/g. Reimer was also Providence’s captain and only graduating player this season.

Sonia Radi was also named to the team after an impressive freshman season that saw her gather averages of 17.2 pp/g, 2.3 ap/g, 6.5 rp/g and 2.4 steals p/g. Radi ran the point for the Lady Freemen and started every game in only her first year on the squad.

The men’s squad was also represented as both sophomore Joel Coursey and freshman Chris Funk were chosen for the men’s All-Conference team.

Joel Coursey avoided the sophomore slump by having a breakout season. The 6’6”, 220 pound monster wreaked havoc in the paint throughout the campaign, and was also named MCAC Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 19th, after a 15 point, 14 rebound output against the Red River Rebels.

Chris Funk was the only freshman to start every game this season for the Freemen. Funk was also the squad’s leading scorer and finished the campaign in the MCAC top five for overall points per game average.
