Providence celebrates TESOL Certificate recipients
Providence welcomed students from around the world into its TESOL program in 2016-17, and on Friday morning the Otterburne, Manitoba institution presented 29 of them with Certificates and Graduate Certificates.
Dr. David Johnson, Providence President, opened the proceedings with a welcome and a prayer, after which Dr. Elfrieda Lepp-Kathler, Assistant Professor of TESOL, provided an overview of the program. Attendees were then treated to a slideshow, and International Student Coordinator Debi van Duin presented Certificates of Recognition for International Students from the Government of Canada.
Students Kuljeet Kaur, Laura McDowell and Rene Schultz then offered their recollections of the school-year, and before awarding the Certificates Catherine Rust-Akinbolaji, Assistant Professor of TESOL and Director of the Providence-based Modern Language Institute, provided her highlights of the past eight months.
Cameron McKenzie, Academic Dean of Providence University College, closed the ceremony with a prayer and benediction.
