Providence moving ahead following fire at Bergen Hall residence
Providence is moving ahead following a fire that consumed the Bergen Hall residence building on Thursday, June 1.
A process is already in place that will see us develop plans for immediate and long-term housing needs, and our current accommodation capacity means we will be able to comfortably host everyone attending Sports Camps, the Summer Music Academy, Summer TESOL and all other programs over the next few months.
We are also looking forward to welcoming and accommodating our University College, Seminary and Mile Two students in September. Our enrollment continues to increase, and we anticipate another excellent school year.
As a community Providence is grateful to God that there were no injuries or loss of life as a result of the fire. God is faithful, and we will continue to trust in His guidance as we plan for our next steps. Bergen Hall served a generation of Providence students amazingly well, and we now look forward to the challenge of creating a new, state-of-the-art, environmentally sustainable space for our residence students.
We would also like to express our thanks to our neighbours, to the firefighters who put out the blaze, and to our countless friends, supporters and fellow post-secondary institutions for their kind words, memories and prayers.
We are excited to continue in our mission of teaching people to grow in knowledge and character for leadership and service.
Alumni and current students: Share your memories of Bergen Hall in this thread on our Facebook page.
