Freemen hoops fall to College Wesmen
20/11 - The Providence Freemen knew they would be in for a tough match Friday evening as they faced off against a strong U of W College Wesmen squad. While the Freemen struggled to get into a rhythm for the game, the College Wesmen were able to play as expected to take the game 79-51.
Providence came out flat in both the first and third quarters to let the College Wesmen build and then re-build leads. While there was never any question of the work ethic being displayed by the Freemen, they weren’t able to get anything going offensively. Meanwhile, the College Wesmen came out and displayed a strong team discipline and ability.
Freemen assistant coach Colten Gryba was disappointed with the loss, but left the game knowing that poor showings are to be expected in college basketball, and that the biggest thing is his team’s play in their next match.
“The guys worked hard but couldn’t get anything going,” Gryba said of his team’s effort Friday night. “It was disappointing the way we played, but I know we can rebound from the loss and come out with more energy and more passion next game.”
The Freemen next return to action on December 3rd & 4th when they host Trinity Bible College.
