Providence Senate Approves New Graduate Certificates
On Thursday, February 17, the Providence Faculty Senate approved three new graduate certificates: Biblical Studies, Applied Counselling, and Church Ministry. Each certificate program involves six graduate level courses (18 credit hours). All six courses in each program are available online, so students anywhere in the world can earn these certificates at their own convenience without relocating to Otterburne. These certificate programs are available to anyone with an undergraduate degree from a recognized institution. The programs appeal to pastors who want extra online training in counseling or who want to stimulate their preaching with more biblical and theological studies. Missionaries can fulfill their need for professional development while overseas. Youth workers or other para-church workers and volunteers can enhance their ministry theory and practice without leaving their present ministries. The programs also help lay church members who want to explore various aspects of service or who just want to increase their knowledge and skill in a particular area.
Courses consist of audio lectures, course notes, textbook reading and interaction, written assignments, and weekly online discussion with the course professor and fellow students. All courses are fully transferable to accredited Seminary Master of Arts and Master of Divinity degree programs. All courses are taught by present and former Providence Seminary faculty members.
