Providence Barn Moved to New LocationWhile planning for a new alternative energy project for Providence College and Seminary, the question was asked, “What if we moved the barn and build a boiler inside it?” This idea quickly took over the conversation and soon the call was made to B. B. Wiebe & Sons, Building Movers. On a beautiful day in February, the Providence barn was picked up and moved to its new location on campus. The Barn now sits on cement footings which will preserve its life. It is currently being prepared as a home for the campus biomass heating system’s boiler. The system will use renewable energy to provide hot-water heat to the Hanna Centre, the Library, and Eichhorst Hall. The renewable energy source will replace much of the fossil fuel that is used on campus.
