MCAC Volleyball All-Conference Selections
2011-03-05

Two members of the Providence College Lady Freemen Volleyball Team were selected to the MCAC All-Conference Team. Victoria Ryshytylo and Chelsea Needham earned the honor as they received their awards at the MCAC Volleyball Awards Banquet on Saturday, March 5 at Red River College.

Needham is a Freshman power from J.H. Bruns in Winnipeg, MB who was able to instantly make the transition to the college level as she proved to be one of the most consistent players for Providence.

“Chelsea has worked extremely hard all year and has improved her passing and defensive parts of her game where she is now a very solid, all-around player. She has always had a canon of an arm which has proven to be a valuable weapon in our offense throughout the year. We are very excited to have her be a part of our team as well as looking forward to her development over the next few years.”

Ryshytylo is a 3rd year middle from Selkirk, MB who has always been Providence’s Most Valuable Player for the last 2 years. She leads the team in kills and blocks and consistently establishes herself as the dominant force at the net.

“Vic is an outstanding athlete and competitor who pushes everyone to be better. Her natural ability and hard work ethic combine to make her one of the elite players in the MCAC and she definitely deserves this recognition. Vic has improved her fundamentals throughout the year which have just increased her ability to pull through for us even in the most important, high pressure situations.”
