Coach Calla Signs on with Lady Freemen
Providence Athletics is very pleased to announce that Dante Calla will be taking the role of Head Coach for the women’s soccer program for the 2011-2012 season. Coach Calla has a strong resume of playing experience and has a passion for the game that is rivaled by few others.
Athletic Director, Scott Masterson, comments; “Coach Calla has already come in and made a significant impact with the level of expectations for next year’s team as well as a strong vision for where he wants to bring this program. We are very excited for the leadership and the knowledge of the game that he will be able to bring to the program.”
Calla is excited for the challenge and the opportunity. “I'm looking forward to building Providence Women's Soccer into the power that it should be. Providence Athletics has given the soccer program all the tools to be successful and I plan on using them! I think my coaching philosophy will change the way the ladies approach the game and the concept of a team. I am a firm believer that if the team focuses on the "we" concept, rather than the "me", we will be successful. Most of all, I am looking forward to building a team around the already talented group of girls we have and bringing multiple championships back to Providence.”
The Providence women’s soccer program finished 2nd to the University of Winnipeg College Wesmen in the 2010-2011 MCAC Championships as well as 2nd to North Central University Rams in the 2010-2011 NCCAA Regional Championships.
