Although the Providence Women's Basketball team lost by a convincing 59-41 score to the Red River College Rebels, they still believe they can match up well with their opponent. After a very slow start that led to a twenty point deficit for the Freemen in most of the first half, they hit a three pointer in the final seconds to make it a 30-13 halftime lead for Red River. While the first half included a lot of turnovers and easy misses around the basket for Providence, the second half started on a better note. Several times, the Freemen stormed back to cut the lead to single digits, only to see the Rebels make a big stop or hit a big shot to regain the double digit advantage. With so many comeback attempts, Providence had used a lot of energy and found themselves in a tough spot with only minutes remaining. They took some big risks as they tried to cut the lead, but Red River responded with some big plays and ended the game with a strong finish

Freshman forward Brynn Swan had 8 points and a career high 17 rebounds, while third year guard, Mel Warkentine recorded 14 points and 9 rebounds in the losing effort. The Women's team now enters the break looking to start fresh when the second semester schedule begins in early January.
