Providence Appoints Interim President
Dr. David Johnson to assume role
Monday, March 12, 2012- Today, Roger Gingerich, Chair of the Providence Board of Governors, announced that the Board has appointed Dr David Johnson as interim President of Providence University College and Theological Seminary. The Presidential search committee continues its work to recommend a permanent President.
Dr Johnson is Professor of New Testament and Executive Vice President/Provost of the institution where he has been a faculty member since 1990. More recently Dr Johnson was dean of the Seminary (2002-2009) and was appointed to his current post in 2010. Dr Johnson earned a Th.M. from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1980 and the Ph.D. from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in 1992. He was also a pastor in the Evangelical Free Church from 1980 to 1987.
Dr Johnson will assume the role of interim President on July 1 as President Dr August Konkel retires.
Dr Gingerich said in his announcement, “As the Board Chair, I look forward to working with David as we move forward on this journey. His experience and giftings will be needed, and I know he will continue to serve our schools well.”
