40th Anniversary of Providence Theological Seminary
Fall 2012 marks the 40th anniversary of Providence Theological Seminary. In 1972, Dr. Ken Hanna, then president of Winnipeg Bible College, started a Graduate Division because of the need for graduate level theological training in western Canada. In 1975, the Graduate Division was named Winnipeg Theological Seminary, today Providence Theological Seminary. The seminary has expanded its offerings from only the Master of Divinity program, to MA programs, and in 1995 to a Doctor of Ministry program. Forty years have seen approximately 1600 students receive their diplomas.
Friday, October 26, 2012, the 40th Anniversary Committee is planning a banquet to honor and celebrate these 40 years of God’s faithfulness. Plans are to hold seminars on preaching and counseling (from 4-5:30 PM) and then host the banquet at 6:30 PM. Our guest speaker for the evening will be Dr. Gus Konkel, President Emeritus, and one of the first graduates of the seminary. More information including registration details will be sent in August. Mark this date on your calendar as you will want to reconnect with former classmates and professors.
