Providence Women’s Volleyball Travels to Nebraska
On the weekend, the Providence University College Women’s Volleyball team made the trip down to Omaha, Nebraska to participate in the Grace University Invitational Tournament. The tournament saw some really great moments and some pretty rough patches. In the first match, Ozark Christian College upset the girls from Providence 25-20, 25-22, 25-20. In need of a bounce back game, Providence was able to outlast AIB College in 5 sets winning 25-20, 25-27, 21-25, 25-19, 15-6. The final round robin match saw Providence take on the #4 ranked team in the nation and host Grace University. Playing the best match of the year, Providence took out Grace in 4 sets 20-25, 25-13, 25-19, 25-22. Although finishing with a 2 and 1 record, a tie breaker in sets won and lost had our ladies not qualify for the playoff rounds. Coach Scott Masterson commented after the weekend: "I was pleased with how we finished the weekend on a positive note with a great win for our program. I believe we are a better team than what we have shown throughout most of the season so far and our goal is to keep working hard on improving our consistency. After a disappointing loss to start the tournament I think our veteran players really stepped up and helped bring our level of play back to where we need it to be for every game."
