Providence Classic a Success for Scholarships
QUARRY OAKS, June 11, 2014 – On what was a perfect day for golf, the 16th Providence Classic charity golf tournament took place at Quarry Oaks Golf and Country Club on Tuesday, raising approximately $35,000 for scholarships at Providence University College and Theological Seminary.
The annual tournament hosted 134 golfers this year, and was complete with a lunch barbeque, a chicken and ribs dinner banquet, prizes, games, and a day’s worth of golf. The winning score was a 12-under by a team brought in by title sponsor Bison Transport, on a day where the wind kept the bugs away, but kept some balls away from the green as well. Golfers had plenty of opportunities for prizes, including the chance to shoot for a boat, car, $10,000, and a Ferris Commercial Mower on four different hole-in-one challenges.
“We’re very happy that once again the Providence Classic was a success,” says tournament chair, Gary Schellenberg. “The weather was perfect, the food was excellent, and we were very encouraged by the support we received from our attendees, sponsors, and friends of the Providence community this year.”
