Every spring, the Providence Chamber Singers offer a concert in celebration of the arrival of spring. With the recent passing of Dr. Henry Schellenberg, long time conductor of the singers, this will be an opportunity to see the legacy he built.
Interim conductor Lowell Friesen, himself a graduate of the performing arts program reflects, "Henry built a strong choral program. We have been working hard and are looking forward to honouring Dr. Schellenberg with an evening of wonderful music”.
The program will include classic works from Handel, Rachmaninoff, Mozart and Mendelsohn, to go along with various contemporary works by Canadian and American composers.
The Chamber Singers will also welcome special guests, the Providence Instrumental Ensemble, and the Faculty Ensemble.
The Annual Spring Concert has a strong and loyal following and the concert is a gift to the community. This concert is made possible by a number of generous sponsors. There will be an opportunity to contribute to the Henry Schellenberg Memorial Fund for Music Education.
Dr. Karen Sunabacka, chair of the performing arts department at Providence says “this is an excellent show case of our students and the choral and instrumental ensembles in which they develop their musicality.”
