NCCAA Presidential Award
2013-04-05

The 2012-2013 Athletic year at Providence was a special one. Providence took a run at receiving a coveted award the school has never won before. The NCCAA Presidential Award honors the school that finishes with the best overall year taking in account all major sports. Men’s and Women’s soccer teams as well as the Women’s volleyball team all qualified for Nationals in fall which automatically placed Providence among the top schools in the nation. The results at Nationals are what separate the top schools for this prestigious award. Women’s soccer lead the way with finishing 3rd while the men’s soccer team and women’s volleyball team finished 5th in their respective sports.
Each year, the NCCAA provides an annual All-Sports Award to be presented to one Division I and one Division II member institution. Points are earned based upon a team’s finish in an NCCAA National Championship.
At least 30% of the division’s membership must sponsor that sport in order for it to be eligible for the point system. Providence participates in Division II and the sports include soccer, volleyball, basketball, and baseball. The award is presented to the winning institution each May at the Annual Convention.
