Food Services Excel in Safety Audits
2013-04-11

Director of Food Services Wing Yau and his 34 full-time and part-time staff at the Reimer Student Life Centre at Providence have received—again!—two grades of 100% in their Food Safety Audit and Physical Safety Audit. Last year the grades were both 100%, too.

The audits took place on April 4, 2013, and were conducted by NSF International, an external auditing company hired by Sodexo Canada to assess and enhance the safety program of Sodexo’s food services at Providence.

NSF International was founded in 1944 as the National Sanitation Foundation at the University of Michigan’s School of Public Health. According to Sodexo Canada, “NSF International [is] a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization [and] they are a world leader in standards development, product certification, education, and risk-management for public health and safety. NSF International is widely recognized for its scientific and technical expertise in the health and environmental sciences. Its professional staff includes engineers, chemists, toxicologists, and environmental health professionals with broad experience both in public and private organizations. NSF International auditors visit our locations annually to audit compliance of our program. These locations are selected at random and no advance notice is given to the location.”

Congratulations and thanks to Wing Yau and his staff!
