The New Year has Begun!
The 2013-2014 school year is in full-swing! Labour Day weekend brought back returning students along with a host of new students. The excitement and anticipation in the air is contagious.
New students were orientated to the life and community at Providence through many annual events on Monday as they settled into their residence halls, were toured around the campus and participated, along with their families, in the Community Life BBQ. The evening brought a time of ice-breakers through events led by the Student Leaders.
For the University College, Tuesday brought a host of registration activities alongside meeting the President and other faculty members through a faculty-led academic orientation. Students were introduced to library services, academic requirements and etiquette, and many other services provided by the Student Development department.
Seminary students attending classes in Otterburne were introduced to faculty members through a seminary retreat held at St. Benedict’s Retreat & Conference Centre, north of Winnipeg on the Red River. This event allowed for a time of worship, prayer, reflection and celebration; a time of getting to know professors and fellow students through stories and fellowship. Seminary students attending our Calgary extension site will be having their yearly retreat on September 7th – held at the FCJ Christian Life Centre in Calgary.
We look forward to this year with the same excitement and anticipation that these students have. We pray that these students will grow in knowledge and character for leadership and service.
