Our Programs

At Providence we seek to provide a Christ-centred experience by encouraging diversity of thought, facilitating a search for knowledge and nuturing community life. Our belief is that a breadth of information and opinion enhances Christian faith, and we seek to equip students for a lifelong pursuit of learning by listening, exploring, and asking questions together. We offer courses through various methods of instruction at our Otterburne campus and our Alberta extension site. Are you ready to join us?

Methods of Instruction

Please note that the Seminary offers course delivery in four different methods:

  • ONLINE: Courses follow the regular session and must be completed within 4 months from September-December or January-April.

  • MODULE: One week intensive course. Work is typically required prior to class (reading/assignments) as well as after the class (final projects/assignments). Modules are offered at both campuses, however, Counselling Practicums 1 and 2 are only offered at the Otterburne campus.

  • DIRECTED STUDY: A directed study is a coherent, well-defined, substantive reading and research project supervised by a faculty member, usually resulting in a major written document. It is not credit for work experience. Independent study is a different way of learning. In independent study, a student is guided by a teacher but usually does not take classes with other students every day. The student works independently.

  • HYBRID: A mixture of Online and Module study.

  • DISTANCE EDUCATION: Consists of a mixture of course delivery methods: Online, Module, Directed Study, and Hybrid (online & modular). Please pay attention as some courses may require students to take courses at our Otterburne campus.
