Master of Arts (Christian Studies)
Two different delivery formats are available for this program. An on-campus study in Otterburne, Manitoba, or an innovative Distance Education format that includes online, module, and interactive distance education courses.
Degree Requirement: 60 Credit Hours
The Master of Arts program is designed to improve student's ability to serve Jesus Christ in the church and in a lay (or possibly para-church) ministry. This program will enable students to be a more effective disciples of Christ, in all spheres of life.
The Master of Arts (Christian Studies) provides the following:
- an opportunity to develop basic skills for studying the English Bible, both for personal spiritual development and for lay ministry.
- an opportunity to reflect theologically upon student's faith and the situation in the world.
- an opportunity for serious study of the Bible, and of Theology, in order to improve knowledge of God's Word enabling students to articulate their faith.
- an opportunity to gain practical knowledge that will improve ministry in areas of personal strength and interest.
This program provides a high degree of freedom, allowing students to compile a program that best suits their needs and interests. Of the 60 credit hours required for completion of the program, only 27 are prescribed. In addition to the 15 credit hours of general elective opportunities, there are also 9 credit hours of electives in the Department of Biblical and Theological Studies, and 9 credit hours in the Department of Christian Ministries and Counselling.
Graduates are employed in churches, mission organizations, para-church organizations, and other Christian ministries.
