Master of Arts (Christian Studies)

The Master of Arts (Christian Studies) program is designed to improve your ability to serve Jesus Christ in the church and the world in a lay (or possibly parachurch) ministry. It will enable you to be a more effective disciple of Christ, in all spheres of life.

The program aims to provide you with the following:

  • an opportunity to develop basic skills for studying the English Bible, both for personal spiritual development and for lay ministry.
  • an opportunity to reflect theologically upon your faith and upon your situation in the world.
  • an opportunity for serious study of the Bible, and of Theology, in order to improve your knowledge of God's Word and your ability to articulate your faith and to work out its implications for Christian living.
  • an opportunity to gain practical knowledge that will improve your ministry in areas of personal strength and interest.

This program gives you a high degree of freedom in putting together a program that best suits your needs and interests. Of the 60 credit hours required for completion of the program, only 27 are prescribed. In addition to the 15 credit hours of general elective opportunities, there are also 9 credit hours of electives in the Department of Biblical and Theological Studies, and 9 credit hours in the Department of Christian Ministries and Counselling.

Student Experience

"God used Providence to prepare me for ministries I did not expect to be engaged in by correctly broadening my Christian worldview, giving me tools to exegete the Word and the world, and increasing my love for the Church. Providence grounded me in the essential truths of the faith while teaching me grace in the "non-essentials."
