Overview

The Master of Divinity (Professional) is designed for those students who are intending to enter professional ministry upon graduation.  Students in this program can choose from several tracks: Biblical Languages, English Bible, Pastoral Counselling, Youth Minstry Studies, Anglican Studies, and Pentecostal Studies.

Those who envision themselves as preachers and teachers should take the Biblical Language track, the Anglican Studies track, or the Pentecostal Studies track (choosing one of the three tracks may be dependant on student's desired denomination).  The Church needs those in pulpit ministry to be able to teach and preach the Word with the confidence and authority that comes from a first-hand knowledge of the Scriptures.  Graduates of Providence (and of other seminaries) feel that the study of languages is worth the effort it takes to study them.

Other students may know that they will not engage in a primary preaching role and so may find a broad understanding of the English Bible more helpful.

Others headed toward a ministry of counselling, chaplaincy, or visitation, should take the Pastoral Counselling track.

Those headed toward youth ministry should take the Youth Ministry Studies track.

The Master of Divinity (Professional) has been successful in training leaders for the Church. Graduates are functioning in various capacities within churches of many denominations around the globe as well as many other ministries.

Student Experience

"Providence challenged me intellectually, fostering my critical thinking in regards to God, such as what I believe and why I believe it. This in turn sparked a love for Theology and desire to pursue theological doctoral studies."

Renee Monkman, Master of Divinity, Ph.D. Student - Toronto School of Theology
