The Master of Arts in Educational Studies, TESOL Major is for people who desire to serve the church by teaching English to speakers of other languages in ecclesiastical or non-ecclesiastical settings. In addition to a solid core of biblical and theological studies, students receive training in linguistic theory and pedagogy, as well as experience in teaching English to speakers of other languages. 

The degree requirement is 60 credit hours. TESOL is a major in both the Educational Studies program and the Global Studies Program.  The difference lies in the type of additional courses taken.  In Educational Studies, one will take additional courses in Christian Ministries and/or Counselling; in Global Studies, one will take additional courses in Christian mission.

Graduates will be qualified to teach English to adults in Canada as well as in many countries abroad. This program will equip students with the knowledge, tools, and flexibility for diverse experiences such as working with immigrants and refugees in community and workplace settings, as well as teaching English for academic purposes to international university students. The M.A. Educational Studies, TESOL Major will prepare graduates for cross-cultural work anywhere on the globe.

The M.A. in Educational Studies (TESOL Major) is recognized at a standard level of 3, by TESL Canada, a national federation of TESOL programs in Canada.
